Petre ROMAN
H.E Roman is a distinguished politician and a respected leader, having served as the former Prime Minister of Romania. In addition to his remarkable political career, he holds a strong academic background.
Roman is a graduate in environmental engineering from the University Politehnica of Bucharest, with a DEA in Hydrodynamics from ENSEEIHT in Toulouse and a Ph.D. in fluid dynamics from the University “Paul Sabatier” in Toulouse.
As President of SWISS UMEF, Roman brings extensive political experience and academic expertise. His dedication to his country and enlightened leadership have made him a key figure in the history of Romania.
Djawed SANGDEL
Dr Djawed SANGDEL is an accomplished professional renowned for his expertise in leadership and entrepreneurship. As the Managing Director of SWISS UMEF, he plays a pivotal role in the management and development of the institution.
Under his leadership, SWISS UMEF has achieved several accreditations, including the Swiss Federal Accreditation, making it the first and only private institution accredited as a University of Applied Sciences in the canton of Geneva.
Sangdel is also a member of the Geneva Cantonal Parliament, where he contributes as an active member of the education, higher education, and housing committees. His political involvement underscores his interest in matters related to education and societal development.
Didier GARZOTTO
Mr Garzotto is an accomplished business-development professional with deep experience in the graphic and packaging industries. As Deputy Director at SWISS UMEF, he supports the Director in leading the organisation’s operational and strategic agenda—overseeing day-to-day operations, driving process optimisation, and implementing innovative technologies to enable growth. He is adept at opening new markets and forging durable partnerships with commercial and academic stakeholders. Results-driven and solution-oriented, Garzotto is recognised for his rigour, creativity and sustained commitment to excellence and innovation.
Imene AJALA
Dr Imène Ajala is Academic & Research Director and Professor of International Relations. She teaches on the Bachelor’s and Master’s programmes and leads an interdisciplinary research agenda in comparative politics and foreign-policy analysis.
Dr Ajala holds a PhD from the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies (IHEID), Geneva. Her work integrates qualitative methods with computational techniques; recent projects employ machine learning and social-media analysis to examine online extremism and political mobilisation.

Dr. Antoine Tong HAN
Has over 10 years of academic experience at universities in France and China. His main research areas include economics, international trade, and higher education management. As the Director of International Cooperation (Asia) at SWISS UMEF, his mission is to develop strategic partnerships in the Asian market and promote the institution’s visibility. His expertise and dedication contribute to strengthening SWISS UMEF’s reputation in Asia while expanding its academic and institutional network.
